Nationally, School Psychology Advocacy Week (SPAW) is celebrated November 12-16th.
A school psychologist is a critical member of the school. She/he helps unlock students’ potential in our school. A school psychologist works with teachers, parents, support staff, and administration to support students’ emotional, behavioral, social, and academic needs. School psychologist are members of multitude of teams within the school: Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for academics and behavior, Exceptional Children (EC), Collaborative Student Services Team (CSST), school psychology PLC, SE and Behavior Teams (PBIS) are a few of the teams they participate in within our schools. Most school psychologist in CMS serve two or three schools, and the CMS ratio for school psychologist to student is 1:2100 (the recommendation is 1:500-700).
